October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and one of the ways you can do your bit is to host a “Girls Night In“. It might not be October yet but the preparations can start early! A Girls Night In is a fundraising program from the Canadian Cancer Society to encourage woman to support one another and raise awareness. It is a simple idea and all you have to do is pick a day or night in October, invite some of the girls over and have some fun!
It can be a full blown party or a simple chat over coffee. The important thing is to take a moment to talk about women’s cancers and how we can all support each other. Nearly everyone has been affected by cancer, either directly or indirectly, yet it is easy to find people who still do not know much about it. Educating ourselves and loved ones about the warning signs can make a massive difference. Of course you do not have to spend the whole time discussing it but do take a moment to talk. If you are not sure where to start there is a page on the website with useful conversational guides.
It is a fundraising event so don’t forget to register your event and download some donation forms. Every little bit counts and will go towards prevention and support programs for woman living with Cancer. The Canadian Cancer Society is accountable and transparent with all donations. All information regarding donations can be found on their website.
It is not just about the ladies, you are free to invite men as well but the focus is on woman, for woman! So call up the girls, find out when everyone is free and turn a fun time with your friends into a contribution.
